Avionics Maintenance Technology Instructor

The Instructor will be responsible for teaching the Avionics course including: Aviation Math, Basic Electricity to include complex DC and AC circuits, Analog circuits, Digital Fundamentals, Aircraft Electrical Troubleshooting skills, Wire and Cable bundle build up and installation practices, Aircraft Communication and Navigations Systems, Installation and Removal of Aircraft Avionics LRU’s, Aircraft Schematic Diagram interpretation and utilization, and Soldering Through Hole and Surface Mount Components to Printed Circuit Boards.

All classes will be held at the Tchulahoma Extension Campus of the TCAT – Memphis located at 3435 Tchulahoma Road, Memphis Tennessee 38118.

The Instructor work hours will be 6:30 a.m. until 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. The class consists of 20 students.

 

Required Qualifications

Diploma in Avionics with FCC Elements 1, 3, and/or NCATT Certification. Aircraft Mechanics Airframe and Powerplant License and Associates degree is preferred.  
Post-secondary training in Avionics Maintenance or Aircraft Maintenance
Must adhere to FAR Part 147, related to aviation schools.
Must have a minimum of three (3) years’ related work experience as an Avionics Maintenance Technician for Part 121, 135, or 145.
Must have the ability to become familiar with Maintenance simulator operations and knowledgeable of hardware, software and systems functions to a level to communicate to students.
Must be capable of delivering course instruction on an advanced Fixed Training Device Avionics maintenance simulator.
Must possess the organizational and communications skills necessary to be an effective Instructor.
Must remain current in the Avionics Maintenance profession and maintain program accrediting status.
Must show evidence of teaching ability.
Must have ability to interact with adult students.
Must show evidence of good character, mature attitude and stable personality.
Must possess computer skills and proficiency in all aspects of Microsoft operating software. 
Must have ability to complete reports/paperwork and meet deadlines.
Must be able to obtain IPC JSTD-001F CIT certification.

Responsibilities

Possess strong background in aircraft Avionics, and General Aviation.
Previous Avionics experience on Airbus A320 and Boeing 727 desired. 
Instruct, monitor, grade, and evaluate individual students’ progress.
Maintain appropriate records and submit timely reports.
The candidate must be able to logically and coherently deliver Avionics Maintenance troubleshooting techniques using the approved curriculum and following the course schedule.
Assist in recruitment and placement of students.
Maintain good public relations with business and industry.
Develop and maintain a strong program advisory committee.
