Human Resources/Payroll Specialist




Requires an Associate Degree, Bachelor's Degree preferred, and a minimum  of three  years of HR/Business Administration work experience. The successful candidate must possess excellent computer and communications skills. Have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent computer, copier, scanner skills; working knowledge of Banner system. Accustom to working in  a fast paced environment. Flexible and works well in a team oriented environment.

General Duties

The Human Resources/Payroll Specialist (HR/PR), is under the supervision of the Coordinator of Finance and Personnel, and  is  responsible for all  human  resource aspects of the institution. The (HR/PR) specialist will perform the tasks associated with payroll, employee benefits, new employee orientation, and employee travel expenses, while ensuring that Tennessee Board  of Regents (TBR)  policies and  procedures are  adhered to. The (HR/PR) Specialist shall assist the Coordinator of Finance and Personnel in other areas of the business office such as basic accounting functions and data entry.  The  (HR/PR) Specialist shall also perform all other duties that may be assigned by  the  President.


Specific Duties

Ensure all related TBR HR,  payroll,  and  accounting  policies are adhered to.
Maintain personnel records, scheduling and  conducting  new employee orientation, processing of paperwork for new hires and paperwork for promotions, salary adjustments,  personal data changes,  and  termination.
Maintain  and  reconcile  personnel annual  and  sick leave records.
Process travel claims including the verification of proper travel authorizations and the claiming  of allowable travel  expenses.
Complete all records and reports requiring financial or personnel information accurately and timely.
As needed assist the business department in areas such as operating the cashier window with POS payment system, distributing student financial aid refund disbursements,  student registration,  and  general reconciliations.
Perform all other duties as assigned by the Coordinator of Finance and Personnel.
