The Gene Haas Foundation awarded a $10,000 grant to TCAT-Memphis Machine Tool Technology Program to be used for scholarships for deserving students. Adam Smith, the HAAS representative who presented the gift, stressed that Gene Haas, the owner of HAAS Automation, a billion dollar company and America’s leading builder of CNC machine tools, wants to do his part to keep the United States a key player in the manufacturing industry. Through these grants, he wants to ensure that the United States can train enough people to fill nearly three and a half million manufacturing jobs that will become available over the next decade. With the scholarship award, TCAT-Memphis will definitely be a viable contributor in the training of more students for the machine tool job market.
