Placement Tests and Transfer Credits

Keytrain

All new students will complete the Keytrain assessment test to determine their current skill level in math, reading, language and communication. (Students in health-related programs will complete a different assessment test.) The results of the test will determine whether you need to attend Technology Foundations classes to improve your math, reading, language, or communication skills before beginning your program coursework. If you participate in Keytrain, you will work at your pace and exit the program once you achieve a designated skill level.

Students who seek exemption from the Keytrain requirement must submit an official transcript showing college-level math and English credit. The transcript will be evaluated against the curriculum.

Credit for Previous Training/Work Experience

Training completed in high school or at technical institutes, colleges and other training situations, such as business, industry, and the military, will be evaluated toward completion requirements where applicable. In order to request credit for previous training, students may be asked to provide one or more of the following:

•Testing: The program instructor may request that the student demonstrate proficiency through oral or written exams, and/or skill performance.

•Transcripts: The program instructor will review the student’s official educational transcripts and grant credit for previous coursework as appropriate.
